Best Practices in Agri-Tourism

Travel Manitoba is looking for Agritourism entrepreneurs and leaders to participate in a unique tourism development program to take place October 14-16, 2009. This program will take participants to south western Ontario to see a variety of agritourism operations first hand in the peak harvest season when they are in full operation.

This study tour will expose participants to a range of farming operations ranging from corn, fruit, vegetable, apiary and dairy products that cater to different markets in different ways.

Participants will experience entertainment farming at its best with on-farm dining venues, school tours, corporate events, festivals, on-farm winery and much more. A combination of site visits, activities and interaction with operation owners will make this a must-do learning opportunity for anyone involved in agritourism or destination development in which there is an agriculture or culinary tourism focus in Manitoba.

Organized in consultation with Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI), this study tour will be a great adjunct to the recently completed agritourism strategy launched by MAFRI.
