2007 Manitoba tourism $

Manitoba’s tourism industry 2007 financials are now available. According to Stats Canada, tourism growth in Manitoba exceeded all other provinces and territories, with an increase of 10.4%  over 2006. Thats an increase of $112,000,000 into Manitoba’s economy.

Although there was an increase in expenditures, the number of visitors remained steady. This means the average visitor is actually spending more money on tourism then in previous years. “Spending on tourism helps support over 5,300 businesses and directly sustains about 13,600 jobs. Tourism in Manitoba currently generates $628.1 million in export revenue, $250 million in provincial tax revenues and $70.7 million in Municipal tax revenues.” (Travel MB, 2009)
