“Down to Earth Marketing” is the theme of Manitoba’s Direct Farm Marketing.
The conference this year is being held on February 27 & 28 at the Royal Oak hotel in Brandon. Our keynote speaker is Gwen Simpson owner of Inspired Market Gardens in Alberta is an award winning entrepreneur and international speaker. She grows all natural culinary herbs and herb plans, edible and heritage flowers and gourmet greens and vegetables. Her products are sold at Farmers’ Markets and to high-end restaurants. Gwen is also the recipient of Alberta’s Best Practices Renewal Award in 2007.
A variety of other sessions are being offered including the new ag labour regulations, internet marketing, farmers’ markets guidelines, and a variety of successful Manitoba entrepreneurs sharing their experience and stories.
The Celebrate Local Flavours evening at the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts is back again this year and will feature chef Matt Otten demonstrating his cooking and sharing thoughts on using local products. The entertainment for the evening is being provided by Driving Guitars a local group who play everything from rockn’ roll to classical.
